Nick Vujicic
Nick Vujicic, a 32 year old man from Melbourne, Australia is one of the happiest and most inspirational motivational speakers in the world. Nick was born with a rare genetic disorder called tetra-amelia syndrome, which caused him to be born without all four of his limbs. As a child, he struggled mentally and emotionally as well as physically, but eventually came to terms with his disability and at the age of seventeen, he started his own non-profit organization, Life Without Limbs. Nick has the ability to create happiness despite his disability, which is truly amazing.
Rather than sitting at home all day and pursuing happiness by wishing that he were someone else who had all four limbs, Nick takes his disability and turns it into something positive, allowing him to create happiness for both himself and others. Nick gives motivational speeches around the world to youth, teens, and adults to help people get through tough times and give advice as to how they can go about living their lives in a more positive manner. In one of the many videos that covers Nick Vujicic’s life called “Man With No Arms and Legs―Amazing Story,” Nick states, “And you keep on concentrating on the things that you wish you had, or the things that you wish you didn’t have, and you sort of forget what you do have.” This quote relates to Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote, “Some pursue happiness―others create it,” because it shows how Nick is able to create happiness by reminding himself of how much he does have (a wife, a child, a loving family, and an amazing life) rather than pursuing happiness by thinking about what he wishes he had.
If a person without arms and legs has the ability to create happiness, what is our excuse for not being able to create happiness?
